The Isambard Kingdom Brunel

This pub is built on the site of the Portsea Island Gas Light Company which burnt down, and was rebuilt in 1915.

This pub is named after the great 19th-century engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Born in 1806, in Britain Street, Portsmouth, Isambard’s birthplace is marked by a commemorative plaque.

This pub is built on the site of the Portsea Island Gas Light Company which burnt down, and was rebuilt in 1915.



This tablet is dedicated to the memory of the menu of the Portsea Island Gas Light Company who gave their lives in the Great War 1914-1919, erected by the executive and employees 1921. 



This tablet is dedicated to the memory of the men of the Portsmouth and Gosport Gas Company who gave their lives in the Second World War 1939-1945.
